The Western and Northern parts of the Congo have incredible places to visit, the Eastern part for the Virunga National Park and the Southern part with the Kundelungu National Park.

The Southern, Eastern, and Northern parts are recommended when it comes to observing landscapes and animals.

This could be subjective and relative, in any case, the best place in the DRC, as most recommended, would be the Lola ya Bonobo Sanctuary. But depending on what you want to discover in the DRC,  some other places may be more appealing.

The average price of a Hotel in the DRC is 50 USD per night; depending on which part of the country you are in, this could be higher or less.

Book permits through park authorities or tour operators well in advance. Follow their guidelines for treks.

Explore Virunga National Park for gorillas, Garamba National Park for wildlife, and cultural sites like Kinshasa’s markets.

Of course yes, the DRC has a lot of mobile operators, for WIFI, LAN and mobile connections. Be sure to arrange for one of them before your arrival.

French is the official language. There are four (4) national languages: Lingala and Swahili, the most spoken, then Tshiluba and Kikongo. Learn some basic Lingala here.

CDF or the Congolese Francs,  with the USD are used in DRC. Credit Cards are not really used in some rural areas, but are mostly used in the Urban environments in the stores, shopping malls, hypermarkets, small shops, online stores, and gas stations.

The truth is, it’s a very beautiful place, and nothing bad can happen to anyone, whether it’s during your travels or during your stay in the DRC, however, some places seem to be safer than others inside the country, so making a good choice is really crucial. Speaking of your stay, be careful when visiting the parks, the animals are beautiful but can also be very dangerous when they’re hungry, so don’t stray far from the group.

Pack lightweight clothing, comfortable shoes for trekking, insect repellent, and a power adapter for Type C or D sockets. Get a power bank to supplement your phone power when outside, and very importantly, watch this video now.
